February Wrap Up

February wasn’t a great reading month. I fell into a slump and didn’t accomplish the goal I set out at the beginning of the month to read books by black authors. I feel disappointed by this, but I know that there’s nothing I could’ve done about my slump. I was a sleep deprived grad student with low motivation to do anything that wasn’t an academic requirement.

I tried to read a couple of books, but I couldn’t get into them. I created a “try again later” shelf on Goodreads because I assume my slump and motivation were partly responsible. Somehow, Wonder Woman: Warbringer helped ease me back into reading this weekend and I hope to continue that with A Wrinkle In Time and Circe. With only three days left in February, I figured I should do this month’s wrap up early. The four books I read are linked to the reviews I wrote.post headersbook cover graphics (2)

1. Aristotle and Dante by Benjamin Alire Sáenz // 5 stars
2. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller // 5 stars
3. The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan // 3 stars
4. Wonder Woman: Warbringer // 4 stars

This month I only hauled two books: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is one of my favorite series, so I bought the new paperback copy to reread and annotate. The Belles was on my list of most anticipated 2018 books. I tried to read a little bit of it, but I couldn’t get into it. I added it to my “try again later” shelf on Goodreads.

  1. February was a terrible reading month for me as well. I have only read one book. Also, I really want to read The Song Of Achilles because you’ve been praising it so much.

  2. Song of Achilles is maaaa jaaaam!!! And Aristotle and Dante as well. And Six of Crows. Haven’t read The Belles yet, but I’m curious about it. I do hope you get out of your slump! It’s such a downer when you don’t feel motivated to read. :/ *sending good vibes your way*
