Weekly Highlights is a recap of things that stood out from the past week, which can range from books, media entertainment, and other aspects of my life.
Despite my busy schedule and getting sick on Thursday, I managed to finish two books this week. This is kind of a big deal because I haven’t been this motivated to read in a couple weeks. The first book I finished was The Battle of Labyrinth by Rick Riordan. It’s the fourth book in the Percy Jackson series and I enjoyed it tremendously. I plan to write a review for this book after I finish The Last Olympian, which I’m currently listening to.
Four months after placing a library hold, Born A Crime by Trevor Noah finally became available to me and I absolutely loved it! Trevor Noah is an amazing storyteller, and you can see my thoughts on the book here.
So, what am I currently reading? I am currently reading three books. Children of Blood and Bone is/was my most anticipated book of 2018, so I dived into it as soon as I received it on Tuesday. I’ve read 234 out of 525 pages so far. I love the writing and the characters. It took some time to get action, but I’m loving it.
The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan is the last book in the Percy Jackson series. I’m excited to see how this series wraps up!
Because I’m reading other books, I haven’t made much progress with Circe by Madeline Miller. My goal is to finish it this week since I’m on spring break.
I saw A Wrinkle in Time on Thursday evening. I wasn’t feeling well when I went to see it, but it was the only night I could go. I enjoyed the movie; however, there were some aspects that I think could have been explained better. Overall, I would probably rate it 3.5/4 out of 5 stars.
I’m officially on Spring Break this week! I kicked it off by going out to happy hour with my cohort. I don’t have any fun plans because I’ll be spending my time applying for jobs, studying for comps, and reading.
How was your week? What books did you read? What movies did you watch? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading!
