As you may have gathered from the title, I started a book club! It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while and finally decided to do it. I announced it on Twitter and Instagram two weeks ago, but I forgot to announce it on here.
This book club is a bi-monthly book club that will focus YA contemporary and adult fiction. This means that we’ll read our first book in April and then the next book club read will be in June. I made this bi-monthly because I like flexibility as a mood reader who is not very good at sticking to TBRs.
Tentatively, I’m using Goodreads to host it, but that could change in the future if I find a better platform. Anyone can join the Goodreads group (link here). If you don’t have a Goodreads, no worries! You can still take part in the discussion because I’m planning a live discussion for May 13th either on Twitter or Instagram. I’ll keep everyone posted.
The way that we’re choosing our bi-monthly book is through a poll. The books in the poll will include backlist books and new releases. If you decide to join, there’s no pressure to read the selection or to buy the book. I’ll do my best to post the poll results at least two weeks ahead of time. That way you can check your library. If your library doesn’t have it, I would suggest cheap booksellers. I’ll post some suggestions in the group. It’s understandable if you skip the selection for that month or the discussions. Feel free to participate in the discussions you want to participate in. Also, you can leave the group any time. Again, there’s no pressure.
So…without further ado
The April Book Selection
The first book for Bookworm By Night book club is: *drum roll* An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. I’m excited to read this book. I’ve heard good things about it on Twitter and Instagram. There’s no reading schedule because I want everyone to read at their own pace; however, there are discussion threads (spoiler and spoiler-free) on Goodreads for anyone who wishes to discuss their progress and reactions weekly!
I hope you’ll join me in reading An American Marriage this month if you haven’t read it already.
I want this to be a great experience for everyone who joins the book club, so I’m open to any suggestions about it.
Will you join the book club? Do you have any suggestions or questions about it? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading!
