Magical Readathon: N.E.W.T.s 2018 TBR

Hey everyone! Before I share this readathon TBR, I want to apologize for my absence on here. I started my new job in July and I’m still adjusting to the role and schedule. Despite my absence, I still managed to find time to read, so I’ll have my July wrap up posted soon and will be writing a couple reviews this week.

Last month, I decided I wanted to participate in two August readathons: BookTubeAthon and N.E.W.Ts Magical Readathon. The N.E.W.Ts Readathon is part two of the Magical Readathon hosted by Book Roast. In this readathon, you can only “sit” for the subjects you completed during the O.W.L.s in April. Because I missed the O.W.L.s, I’ve spent the past 4 days catching up so I could participate in the N.E.W.Ts. I completed O.W.L.s for Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Transfiguration. Those are the only subjects I can focus on for the N.E.W.Ts readathon.

The N.E.W.Ts are a little more challenging and strict. There are categories within each subject and you have to read the acceptable book first followed by exceeded expectation book and then outstanding. I’m aiming for Outstanding in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Exceeded Expectations in Astronomy, and Acceptable in Charms, Potions, and Transfiguration. I tried adding unread books that I already own and I have a backup for each book. I don’t like making TBRs, but let’s hope I can stick to this.

Are you participating in any readathons this month? If not, what books do you have on your August TBR? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading!

  1. I’ve been thinking about reading Ta Nehisi Coates’ Black Panther series and thankfully, my library has it. Well as far as I know lol.

A lot of the Booktubers I follow are participating in the N.E.W.T.S read-a-thon but I think that’d be too much for me to handle in a month. Even though I only work part-time, it still feels like a lot more reading than I’m used to.

    Good luck!

  2. This looks like such a cool readathon! I’d never heard of it before and I’m hoping I can join in on the next one.
