HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
My Halloween is going to be kind of lowkey. Last year while I was still in grad school and worked on campus I dressed up as Michael Jackson. That was a lot of fun because it was part of the workplace culture. That’s not the case at my current job. I had a few costume ideas—Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus or a Muse from Hercules. However, I scrapped those plans when I realized the people at my job are not into Halloween (I still decorated my own office though). Nonetheless, I’m still in the spirit and decided to do this tag, which I saw on The Orangutan Librarian‘s blog.

Witch: A Magical Character or Book
What kind of Harry Potter fan would I be if I didn’t acknowledge the series that still warms my heart 20 years later? Plus this series includes the Hallowe’en chapter that launched our Golden Trio’s friendship. And there’s also Nick’s Deathday party in The Chamber of Secrets. Basically, I fully intend to spend my evening watching Harry Potter.
Werewolf: The Perfect Book To Read At Night
I lost myself in The Poet X when I read it this summer. It’s written in verse and fitting for late night reading.
Frankenstein: A Book That Truly Shocked You
Truly shocked by how much I enjoyed The Poppy War. One of the best debut novels I’ve read.
The Devil: A Dark or Evil Character
Nils Bjurman is absolute garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Pure trash. I won’t spoil it for anyone, but I can’t state it enough: He’s trash.
Grim Reaper: A Character That Never Should Have Died
How much time do you have? Because I could rant about all the unnecessary deaths in Harry Potter for hours. For this one, I’m going with a character that deserved better at the end of The Order of the Phoenix.
Zombie: A Book That Made You Hungry For More
I think I’ve established by now that I love The City of Brass with my heart and soul. If you haven’t noticed that, it’s probably because you haven’t been following me long enough. I went to great lengths to get an ARC of the sequel because I couldn’t get enough of this world and the characters. I ♥ you, City of Brass.
Gargoyle: A Character That You Would Protect At All Cost
Elias Veturius. Who else?
Vampire: A Book That Sucked The Life Out Of You
I was so underwhelmed by A Gathering of Shadows. It took a month for me to finish this and I want that time back.
Ghost: A Book That Still Haunts You
I read The Song of Achilles in February and still think about it from time to time. It’s just so tragic.
Demon: A Book That Really Scared You
I don’t have a book for this category because I don’t do scary. I tend to avoid horror at all costs.
Skeleton: A Character You Have a Bone To Pick With
Fitting that I picked this character because of her background. I want you to square up, Annabel Blackthorn.
Mummy: A Book You Would Preserve Throughout Time
We Should All Be Feminists is less than 60 pages and provides a super basic definition of feminism. With the Christmas just two months away, this would make a great stocking stuffer for everyone.
Creepy Doll: A Cover Too Scary To Look At
Want to know why I’ll never read this series? The kids look creepy as hell. I don’t trust anything with creepy looking children.
I’m tagging anyone who wants to do this. Tag me in your posts so I can see your answers.
What are your Halloween plans? What do you think of my answers? What book cover creeps you out?
Once again, Happy Halloween friends! 🎃🕷️🕸️👻
