24in48 Readathon Wrap Up

A few days ago, I announced in this post that I would be participating in the 24in48 readathon. So, how did I do?

23 hours of reading. 3 books. One library book sale. A trip to the mall and park. Some errands and cleaning. And I’m ready for King of Scars.

Books Read

  • The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang: Loved this book and that kind of surprised me. Lived up to the hype for me. 5/5 stars
  • Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo: A solid sequel and finally I understand why everyone loves Nikolai Lantsov. 4/5 stars
  • Ruin and Rising by Leigh Barduo: An unplanned read and satisfying conclusion. I’M READY FOR KING OF SCARS. 4.5/5 stars

Friends, I can’t believe I started and finished these books during the readathon, read for 23 hours and didn’t lose sleep or neglect anything to do it! Aaaand I only bumped one book from my TBR. I did so much better than last year. Not bad at all. I’ll post reviews for these books soon.

Did you participate in 24in48? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading!

  1. Congratulations! Three books in merely 2 days is an amazing feat. I’ve always wanted to pick up something by Leigh Bardugo but have heard mixed reviews. It’s definitely a series that is perfect for a readathon.

    1. Thanks, Ayunda! I think Six of Crows is her best work so far. The verdict is out on King of Scars because I just started it. I think she grew a lot as a writer between this trilogy and Six of Crows.

  2. You did so, so well with the readathon, Merline! I loved seeing your updates on Twitter and Instagram! Would this be a bad time to tell you that Nikolai may or may not appear in Crooked Kingdom too? xD Obviously there’s no time to read that duology now (if you haven’t yet – I don’t remember atm) but I figured if you wanted to after, you’d like that bit of knowledge! 😀 Also, good luck with King Of Scars! I don’t know what to expect and am preparing myself for the worst (as in, what Leigh can do to Nikolai), basically. xD

    1. I remember him from Crooked Kingdom, but his appearance didn’t mean much to me at the time. I have to go back and re-read Crooked Kingdom soon now that I can appreciate his appearance and understand who Sturnhond is. I’m currently reading King of Scars and I feel like it’s leading to something dark and sinister that I’m not ready for. Happy reading!

    1. 10 hours is great!!! I had a little bit more time on my hands because I’m not in school anymore. I didn’t think I would surpass 12 hours going into this.
