Blogger Friends Recommend Their Favorite Romance Novels

Happy Sunday everyone! I got the idea to do a romance recommendation post a month ago for Valentine’s Day. However, I knew my cold black heart wasn’t qualified to recommend romance to anyone so I asked a few blogger friends for some help. Trade Me by Courtney Milan – This is one of my top three romance reads of all time, and one of the firsts books I truly felt myself, my culture, and my history represented in.

Cindy’s Summary: Tina Chen knows hardship, she knows what it’s like to struggle, and she knows that billionaire scion, Blake Reynolds couldn’t last a month in her shoes. That is until he makes her an offer to trade lives – jobs, incomes, homes, cars, everything for a whole month, no expectations and no obligations. The initial fire between the two of them blossoms into something more, and soon the two of them are trading more than just lives but secrets and heated nights together too. But when hearts are involved, no expectations and no obligations definitely have a way of turning everything on its head.

A Gentleman in the Street by Alisha Rai -This book is hot, I mean really hot (there may even be an excellently written orgy in the pages of this book). It also happens one of my favourite romance novels to date.

Cindy’s Summary: Akira Mori can have anything heart desires, she’s smart, she’s got money, and runs her own multi-million dollar business. She can have it all, except for one thing or should I say, one man. Jacob Campbell knows all about Akira and she knows all about him and how to push all his buttons. Sparks fly, everything is ignited, and the two of them spend more and more time together, discovering all of each other. Akira Mori is also one of the most bad-ass heroines I’ve ever read and just makes this book come alive. This is one of my favourite Alisha Rai novels and I’m sure it will become one of yours.

Sugar Baby Novella Trilogy by Rebekah Weatherspoon

I know I’m cheating a little, but this novella trilogy can be read all together which is what I recommend.

Cindy’s Summary: Kayla Davis never expected to meet stone-cold fox Michael Bradbury when she followed her roommate to a meet-and-greet for the online dating site Arrangements that matches women with older men of a certain tax bracket. The trilogy follows the different parts of their relationship, from their initial dates, their engagement, their marriage, and babies. You get to not only see Kayla grow as an individual, a businesswoman, but also find true love. This is a really sweet and fun series, and a great introduction to Rebekah Weatherspoon if you haven’t read her work before.

A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole

A contemporary romance that shows modern relationships can work with open communication and a healthy dose of vulnerability. This novel addressed financial power dynamics, asking and giving consent, and renegotiating life goals once you are partnered. Overall is was a fun read!

Paradise by Judith McNaught

My go to love story of all times. The writing is definitely indicative of 90s romance but it’s a second chance love story. Our heroine finds her voice over time and finds her way back to her soulmate when she realizes a comfortable life is not enough. The expectations of who she should be becomes less important, when she taps into self-confidence and inner strength.

Some books that I will always recommend is The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, Southern Pleasure ( I know, that name sucks), and The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare. These are all based on different sub genres in romance which can also show how deep this genre can go!

The Duchess Deal was my first try at Historical Romance and I will treasure this always. It gave me a look at Duke needing a Governess and I’ve never looked back.The Hating Game has the funniest enemies to lovers plot I’ve read in a while. The Kiss Quotient gave you diversity, romance, and a deeper subplot. Southern Pleasure was the first book with the single dad romance trope that I read and I was hooked! There’s something about men actually caring for there kids. I swoon every time I read one.
