Six Books I’m In The Mood To Read Right Now

Have you ever had one of those weeks or months where you want to read ALL THE BOOKS but end up reading nothing? Well, that’s kind of where I am right now. These are the books that I’m in the mood to read right now, but still haven’t picked up. I hope to get to them soon. ish. My fingers are crossed. It’s hard out here for a mood reader.

We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal – Almost everyone on Twitter, including my friend Brittany, are raving about this book. I started it last night after I finished Opposite of Always by Justin Reynolds (so good, btw).

Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram – I can count on one hand the number of people I’ve seen talk about this book on social media. I saw it at the bookstore and I’m so intrigued. The library has it, but I don’t want to return it unread so I’m waiting until I finish We Hunt the Flame.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman – So I really want to watch this show, but I want to read the book first. Unfortunately, there’s a waitlist at the library. I hope I’m still in the mood for it by the time it’s my turn.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid – I’m in the mood for this because of the hype. I’m weak.

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo – I have a review copy and I reeeeally want to read this RIGHT NOW. I love Elizabeth Acevedo. This comes out in May so I actually have to read and review this soon.

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang – This is another one I want to read RIGHT NOW and actually have to review soon. It comes out in May.

If I had the ability to read all six of these books at the same time, I would. That should be my super power. Are you haunted by thought that you’ll never read all the books in the world? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I’m the same way with Daisy Jones. Not really my sort of topic / genre, but keep seeing it all the time 😀
I think i’ll go with the audio version cuz it has multiple narrators, so i think that will be quite interesting.

  2. ooh- hope you get to read some before the mood passes! I’m really keen to start on American Gods, but I’ve been putting it off because it feels like it’s going to take serious commitment to finish. We’ll see!

  3. The only author on this list I’ve read so far is Neil Gaiman. I’ve only read children’s books by him (I think). He has a charming way with words and a lovely creepy atmosphere in his stories. I am easily frightened but, so far, I find his stories more whimsy with a touch of eeriness. I did hear that American Gods is a bit more…graphic. I do have a copy of that book so…one day I’ll take the plunge. Until then, I am happily reading his shorter works and aiming to attempt Good Omens. I tried Good Omens ages ago and totally failed. But, I have been reading more widely since then. Fingers crossed that I find it easier to read when I get to it.

    1. I hope you find Good Omens easier. I’ve only read one of his works, Norse Mythology. I liked it and have been interested in his other books since.
