O.W.L.s Magical Readathon TBR | 2019

I love the magical readathon and had so much fun when I participated last year, but I decided I was going to skip it this year because I tend to fall into a reading slump after readathons. However, when I saw that Book Roast added wizarding careers and all the cool stuff she created for this round of the readathon, I couldn’t resist.

The O.W.L.s is part one of a two part readathon hosted by Book Roast. It takes place the entire month of April and similar to Harry Potter, the O.W.L.s determine which subjects you can sit for during the N.E.W.T.s exam in August. Participants can only “sit” for the subjects they completed during O.W.L.s. and you have to start and finish your books during the readathon. This year, Book Roast added careers as an option for people who want to make it a little more fun.

Career and Required O.W.L.s

I wanted to pick a career that was close to my actual profession, but mind medic had wayyyy too many subjects so I picked the first thing that appealed to me, which is why I’m on my way to become an Aurologist. I won’t make a lot of money doing that, but it sounds fun and we can pretend I’m from a wealthy black wizarding family. Hahaha. Seriously, Aurologist is perfect because April is going to be a busy month and it only has three required subjects. So, here are the books I’m going to prioritize.

The Star-Touched Queen has been on my physical TBR for almost a year so I’m happy that I have a chance to finally read it. When I couldn’t think of any books set in the future, I asked Twitter and did some research. Legend was on that list and it was available at the library. I started The Lies of Locke Lamora earlier this week; however I’ve only listened to 13 minutes of the audiobook. I decided to set it aside until the readathon starts because I have to start and finish these books in April.

Because I need to read these two ARCs in April, I’ve decided to knock out Charms and Muggle Studies.

If I have time and I’m still in the mood for reading, I’ll knock out Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration.

Are you participating? Let me know and link me your TBR. What’s your Hogwarts house? I’m a Hufflepuff.

  1. Have fun!
I’m also participating ๐Ÿ™‚ I want to become an alchemist (also close to my actual career) but you need all subjects for that.. So my second choice is magizoologist!

  3. Oh my this looks like SUCH a fun challenge! If I weren’t already knee deep in challenges and reading goals, I’d join right up for this one. Good luck! Also, hope you enjoy The Star-Touched Queen, I really loved that one. ๐Ÿ™‚
