I Need A Break: July 2019 Hiatus

Hey everyone! This is just a quick post to let you know that I’m taking a break this month.

I’ve been trying to avoid officially taking a break because I thoroughly enjoy blogging and connecting with all of you, but I can’t avoid it any longer. I kind of feel like I’m failing as a book blogger. I’m struggling to write posts, I’m very low on content ideas, and I haven’t checked my bookish email in weeks. I tried to work through that, but I have 11 drafts in my backlog that I have no motivation to finish. On top of that, I’m in a reading slump right now and recently had to pull myself out of an emotional funk due to some personal issues.

With the input of a few friends on Twitter, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m exhausted and slightly burnt out so I need to take time off to recharge. It feels weird taking a break because I’ve been somewhat inconsistent the past few months, but I think my brain just needs a rest from expectations I’ve set for myself.

Even though I won’t be active on here, you can still follow me Twitter and Instagram. I’ll post a few updates on those platforms during my absence. I’ve decided to lean into my reading slump, but I hope it doesn’t last forever.

See you in August. Until then happy reading.

  1. We’ll still be here when you come back!
Nothing like having nearly a dozen backlogged blog posts to put you in a funk. Been there, done that. You’ll feel so much better, I promise <3.

  2. Take all the time you need. I hope you have a restful hiatus. See you on Twitter and back on your blog in August!
