Hey everyone! Today, I’m here to do a wrap up for spookathon 2019, which was hosted by Lala @ booksandlala. I didn’t announce that I was participating in this readathon on here or post a TBR because it was a last minute decision. The readathon was from October 14-20th.
The challenges
- Read a thriller
- Read a book with red on the cover
- Read a book with a spooky word in the title
- Read a book with a spooky setting
- Read something you wouldn’t normally read
What I read

📖 The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson – I finished this book 3 days into the readathon. This worked for all the prompts. 4/5 stars
📖 The Outsider by Stephen King – I read 58% of this book prior to the spookathon and finished the reminder during the readathon. Check out my review here. 3/5 stars
📖 The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware – This is another book I started before the readathon. I finished it on day 5 and gave it 3/5 stars. The reviews were really great on Goodreads, but this was just middle of the road for me. It was really atmospheric and the mystery was great, but the end was kinda anti-climatic.
I had similar feelings about The Turn of the Key. Was expecting something more!

Yeah! I really liked The Death of Mrs Westaway so I thought the twist was going to crazier than it was

I keep hearing gret things about the turn of the key, sad to hear that it was a bit anti-climatic!

I think a lot of people will enjoy it. I think because I guessed the ending, it felt kind of anticlimactic.
