August Wrap Up

Hey everyone! I can’t believe August is already over. I’m sad to see it go because it was a great month. I got a new job, spent quality time with family, Joe Biden shockingly forgave $10,000-20k of student debt, my blog turned 5, and I read the best book of 2022. It was hot as hell, but one of the best and most relaxing months I’ve had all year.

Books Read

I read 10 things in August. Had a nice mix of genres and two five star reads. That hasn’t happened in very long time. My average rating for the month was 3.93. That’s the highest average rating I’ve had since I started tracking my reading.

Babel and In The Wild Light were my favorites and I reviewed both on here. I read an ARC of Babel at the beginning of the month and I haven’t stopped talking about how amazing that book was. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know. Best book of 2022. I also loved In The Wild Light so much. It made me cry and I hope Jeff Zentner continues to write these small town stories.

I’m 4 books away from reaching my Goodreads goal. Thought I’d reach it in August because I was on a roll but I hit a wall at the end. Couldn’t figure out what I was in the mood for and that made me slumpish. Hopefully, I’ll reach it in September. Anyways, reviews and ratings for August reads are below. Click the covers for review.

TV/Movies

  • The Sandman – I really enjoyed this. The VFX wasn’t great but really hope they get renewed for season 2
  • Run BTS – Run BTS came back with two new episodes. It was hilarious. All is right in the world
  • Only Murders in the Building – Love this show. Can’t wait for season 3
  • House of the Dragon – Went into this with low expectations and I liked it. Still bitter about GOT season 8, but this made me want to jump back into ASOIAF lore. I’ll keep expectations low and tune in for the rest of the season. I saw that it’s already been renewed for season 2
  • King Richard – I loved this movie. The ending felt abrupt but it was great
  • She-Hulk – I love the tone of the show. Wish the episodes were longer
